This is the weekend I finally have a beautiful Mac in my hands again! After having worked with one for years at Full Sail, I now have one of my own again! The sweet, warm melody that came from initially opening it brought a beautiful feeling to my heart. Not posting from it now though, still working on my 84 lbs HP laptop while reading applications...big and clunky next to my MacBook Pro :o)
After a full day in the office Saturday, we came home to watch The Social Network - neat piece. We really enjoyed it. Except that I went through the entire movie thinking that the actor playing Mark Zuck was the same character from Juno, SuperBad, etc....
Friday night, we had had high ambitions for our night, after a long day of work at 7pm - computer closed: we showered, opened up a bottle of wine, got some cheese and crackers and got ready for a 'hot' night out, planning to visit a couple of newly discovered bars downtown. Upon opening the front door however, we discovered that there was a mild snow storm and about 4 inches had accumulated. Our small car wasn't going to move to far in that weather - so we ended up around the corner from our place at Misono for Sushi....so much for that.

LinkedIn & Nell and Thom's visit to Boston
Today, while briefly stopping into my LinkedIn account, I realized that somehow this blog - a class assignment from Spring 2010 semester had somehow linked to my LinkedIn account. Perhaps not the best idea to keep it there. What else did it lead to? The realization that I really enjoyed having a blog, whether it's read by anyone or not. I had stopped having a blog because after a hiatus of not updating my 'where in the world is jacquie' blog, with some of my travels in Turkey, the Caribbean, the Middle East, China were nicely documented - my blog was DELETED by blogger. Yep, deleted, and with that left a little piece of my heart. And I went on a strike from blogger.com until now.
Right now is our application reading season, this morning there is a CWL season, so I am going in and out of the chat.
This past weekend - Februay 18th - 20th, Nell and Thom came to Boston for a visit - Thom's first week or so back in the U.S. from Japan. It was quite the whirlwind of a weekend, including (NOT in order):
a visit to the MFA (the new Americas wing - we loved it! Sean and I decided we really should be members of the museum)
a quick stop at Boston Beer Works for nachos and frites (fries AND fried Pickles!)
West Roxbury diner brunch
Eastern Standard for pre-dinner cocktails and oysters
dinner at Francesca's in the North End
a visit to Mike's Pastries (our first time!! - FINALLY!)
a visit to the Purple Shamrock (which wasn't as fun as the previous Thursday night when we'd visited with Jon who was here from Texas and Video DJ Chris Willis (whose music style we really enjoyed and after engaging in conversation we learned that on alternative nights is at Strip Club DJ-hehe)(would love to have gone to a classier place, but the combination of proximity and cold had arrows pointing in its direction)
there were what felt like several hours of waiting for a taxi in windy, 12 degree weather, where Nell and I snuck in the 'cove' of a Dunkin Donuts across from Faneuil Hall, right after we had visited the last (strange) bar for the night and took snapshots of different situations, including 'awkward moment'
oh, and we can't forget the 'Christmas picture' poses we took before leaving for dinner
the champagne celebration while getting ready
'Time Intensity Factor' as I like to call it, we truly made the most of the weekend and their short visit.
Now, several things are on my mind, but I'll have to check in later - it's back to work for now!
